Vintage Gibson MK53 from Brighton Guitars. The Gibson Mark series was the result of a collaboration between Dr. Michael Kasha, a physics professor at Florida State University since 1951, and luthier Richard Schneider. They were trying to to improve the sound of a guitar from a scientific basis. This was the middle of the line. Very well built guitar unlike most Gibsons from the mid 70s. Slope shoulder body style, narrower waist that a dreadnaught, spruce top with modified fan bracing, maple back and sides, rosewood "Kasha" bridge, bound body, black pickguard, raised plastic soundhole ring, black snakehead style peghead with script "Gibson" logo, and chrome tuners with bell-shaped buttons. It looks very different from your standard dreadnaught, but its a good sounding and good playing guitar. It has the big, tight, booming sound you expect out of a jumbo coupled with a crispness from the maple back and sides. In very good condition and fully setup with original hardcase.
