New Hohner Essential range now in stock!

These guitars are built utilising a revolutionary technique Hohner calls “frequency matching.” Hohner¹s technicians utilise a form of tap tuning to determine the resonant frequencies of the wood and then match the solid spruce tops with similarly resonant mahogany backs and sides. The result is a guitar that is unusually resonant, producing a rich, singing, tone that makes even the small bodied Parlor and Folk guitars in the Essential series sound huge. These guitars feature a micro-thin finish and pick guards were left off in order to encourage the vibration of the tops. Quality of sound was sacrosanct. These guitars were kept cosmetically simple, we chose to invest in perfecting the manufacturing process  Guitars by their very nature play consistently out of tune. In the first position, play an E chord and it sounds perfectly in tune, play a D chord and it¹s a little out, Play an A chord and it may sound so badly out of tune that you want to tune up again. This only gets worse as you play up the neck. To rectify this situation, Hohner has equipped each Essential model guitar with No Variance Intonation Technology.  This special nut and bridge assures that these guitars play with perfect intonation, up and down the length of the neck making them a pleasure to play.

Each Essential guitar goes through a 12- point inspection at Hohner¹s US facility in VA to insure that every guitar is set up to sound great. Intonation, action, and overall quality are carefully checked.

Essential Roots combine classic shapes with Essential Technology. All Essential Roots come equipped with Frequency Matched Solid Spruce Top and Mahogany Back, No Variance Intonation equipped, Micro-Thin Satin Finish, Die-Cast Tuning Machines and a Vintage Sunburst Finish.

The new Essential Roots Series guitars connect to Hohner’s historical role in roots and blues music. Hohner teamed up with guitarists and session musicians of Hohner harmonica endorsees to develop an exceptional series of vintage inspired guitars.
The new series consists of 5 models that are Hohner’s modern interpretation of legendary acoustic guitars. The Essential Roots S0 (M0) and S00 guitars are reminiscent of the smaller bodied guitars that contemporised the music of the 1920s and 30s. They combine natural and sunburst finishes, vintage body styles with building techniques and features of the current Essential Series. Hohner’s focus was on authentic sound, modern playability and “no variance intonation”. All models are equipped with NVI compensated nut and saddles.

All guitars of the series feature a micro-thin satin finish. The pick guards were left off in order to encourage the vibration of the tops. The result is guitars that are exceptionally resonant, producing a rich, singing tone that makes the small body models sound huge.
The “0″ guitars have an authentic short scale (613mm), a 12th fret neck joint and are available with solid mahogany or solid sitka spruce tops. The “00″ has a solid sitka top, sunburst finish and an original 632mm scale length (optional cutaway and Fishman ION+ preamp). The series is rounded off with the MD, a full scale dreadnought with a solid mahogany top. Hohner dedicates the series to any guitarist who bases his style on roots music.

Ok the short version of this is they are amazing value for money. I have played the majority of these guitars and couldn't help but be impressed. Compensated nut at this price is a first for me. These guitars have a simplicity that is matched by their tone. Beautiful and understated these guitars are just incredible. Don't take my word for it ,so far everyone that has tried one has either bought one or put it on their gotta have it list. Check out the video below or come and try one and see if you can say no….Andrew
